Description of the workplace

Uddevalla Culture School offers teaching in visual arts, dance, music, and theater for children and young people aged 5–26 years, as well as holiday activities.

At the Culture School, about 30 teachers/educators work, and we meet around 1300 children in our course activities and over 5000 children and young people in our various projects we do together with, among others, schools and youth centers. Our mission is to offer a meaningful leisure time by giving children and young people the opportunity to participate and develop based on their different conditions and levels of ambition. We do this by conducting fun and innovative activities in various forms of course arrangements as well as offering holiday activities and open events both at the Culture School and other locations in the municipality. We have an established collaboration with youth centers and schools in the municipality as well as several residential areas, which allows us to operate in many different arenas and meet many children and young people. Through this mission, the rights of children and young people to culture and cultural expression are ensured according to the Convention on the Rights of the Child. The purpose of the Culture School is to teach and develop children's, young people's, and young adults' aesthetic expressions, to promote a curious lifelong learning. The activities are characterized by the equal value of all children and a norm-critical approach.

Job responsibilities

• You will be part of a team with three dance teachers who meet about 300 students every term. The teachers work with their own creations in all genres and offer shorter courses in various techniques and in creating dance.
• The dance team has a developed collegial collaboration where they co-plan and share exercises. They also collaborate with other subject teachers at the Culture School in various joint activities.
• The position includes scheduled time for teaching, but you who work with us also have room for planning time, meeting time, and professional development.
• Part of the activities takes place in the afternoon/evening on weekdays, and the Culture School also has activities during certain school holidays.

We are looking for someone who

• is confident in teaching children and young people, preferably in several techniques and genres.
• can work independently but also appreciates collaborating with others, both within and outside the organization.
• wants to contribute to our development work together with Culture School teachers.
• has an artistic drive and above all - enjoys interacting with children and young people.
• understands the differences of all people, both cultural and social.

Qualifications

• We would like you to have a university education in dance pedagogy, or equivalent education.
• We are looking for someone who is confident in teaching beginners but also at a more advanced level.
• You master several genres such as jazz, street, and ballet.
• You are flexible and have a good ability to adapt teaching to the needs of the students.
• You can handle the Swedish language in speech and writing.

Teacher certification is an advantage. It is also an advantage if you have experience in teaching dance, as well as working with children and young people in various forms.

We place great importance on personal suitability.

Other

You will be employed in a holiday position.
